Not long ago, I blogged about being inspired by another creative in my community. Silver Spring is full of artists, and seeing what they do, how they work, how they weave their creative lives with their work and personal lives is always fascinating to me. I’m heavily inspired by others, but I never thought of myself as someone who could inspire another… until last week.
I received an unexpected email from a former client named Ann. Last summer, I photographed Ann’s family, including her children and grandchildren, and she loved one of my photos so much that she turned it into a beautiful watercolor painting! She had plans to enter her painting in a contest, but wanted to touch base with me first because my art was the inspiration for her art.
I was so shocked, humbled and so surprised. My art was the inspiration for her art. Those words mean so much to me!
When I saw Ann’s painting, I was even more blown away. It’s absolutely stunning, and she gave me permission to share it with you here. Below is Ann’s painting, which won third place in Washington Watercolor Society exhibit, and below that is the original photograph from the session.
