Sometimes -- sometimes -- posts about head shots can be boring. Not this time. There is nothing boring about Shala Graham.
Shala is the Principal and Creative Director at SW Creatives. She's owned and operated her own business for 10 years, recently expanded by opening a co-working space in Silver Spring, and was recognized as a Top 100 MBE earlier this year. In a nutshell, Shala is one kick-ass woman.
She wanted updated headshots that reflected who she is not just a business owner, or creative, or intellectual, but all of the above. We chose to do the session in Fenton Village, an area of Silver Spring that's just as eclectic as she is.
Of course the photographs had to focus on Shala's face--because that's what a headshot is. But I couldn't let her walk away without a few full-body and detail shots. Check out that bag. And those shoes! I think Shala needs to add fashionista to her resume :)
I'm so grateful that, in addition to everything else, Shala has also agreed to be my small-business mentor. I've already learned so much from her and love the examples she is setting for women everywhere. Shala is proof that with love, dedication, compassion, and hard work, a woman today can soar as high as her wings will carry her.
