Silver Spring feels more like a city than a neighborhood. You're just steps from the library, music, outdoor markets and lots of shops. Being able to walk everywhere means no fussing with a car seat, and more time outside for the kid.
Kid menus galore
McGinty's has a "toddler" menu, in addition to their kid's menu. You can't beat that. We've especially taken advantage of the restaurants that have outdoor seating in brightly-lit Downtown Silver Spring. We love Thai Derm, Kefa Cafe, Pacci's, Pete's, and Jackie's. They've all been great options for kids. And when you want a little bit of grown-up time, Adega and Fenwick Beer/Wine are great for buying an adult beverage to take home!
Outdoor entertainment
The outdoor entertainment during the summer in Downtown Silver Spring is great for kids: there's music on Monday afternoons, Friday evenings, and Saturdays during the Farmer's Market. The Fenton Street Market has a good selection of toys for kids, and it's always a bonus to support local artists. We love the diversity and being able to expose Mickey to so many great experiences. There are people and food from all over the world! It's a great place to live with a kid!
Recreation
There are a wide variety of parks in the area for outside time. Our two favorites are Woodside Park and Bullis Park. Mick loves playing conductor on the toy train and taking pictures through the giant tree stump at Bullis Park!
