He rolled into his prothsetist's office earlier today, and walked out on a brand new leg!
I'm so excited for my dad and so proud of his accomplishments. He's done so much to get to this point, and said it feels wonderful being able to stand again. Now that he's mobile, he's got so much to look forward to! For the time being, he's been directed to wear his new prosthetic for three, one-hour increments each day. Over the coming weeks, those increments will increase until he's able to wear the prosthetic for 8, 10, maybe even 12 hours a day. Sometime next week he'll start outpatient physical therapy to regain balance and coordination, as well as learn tips and tricks for walking with and caring for the prosthetic. He's so eager to get started, and I can't wait to share with you more updates in my dad's incredible journey. I'm so proud to call this guy my dad! |
