You see, when I first moved to D.C., all the way back in 2008, I had no one to celebrate this holiday with. I moved here having never visited before and without any friends or family in the area. As soon as the Munroe's found out that I was expecting to spend Thanksgiving alone, they opened their home to me. For me, it was one of the kindest things anyone has ever done for me. For the Munroe's, it was just another day. They truly are some of the kindest, most caring people I know.
That's why I was honored when they asked me to celebrate Mother's Day weekend by taking maternity and birth announcement photos. Galen and Tara are expecting their first child -- a baby girl -- this fall, and I couldn't be happier for them! They have so much love for each other, their friends and family, and I know Baby E is going to fit right in.
The three -- soon to be four -- of us spent an afternoon together in a favorite park near Old Town Alexandria. It was wonderful just catching up and hearing about all the dreams, hopes and wishes Galen and Tara have for their daughter. It's crazy to think that in just four short months, she'll be here, and a year from now, Tara will be celebrating her first Mother's Day with a baby in her arms!
Until then, I wish Tara and Galen the best as they prepare for this great, new chapter in their lives. I have no doubt they are going to be fantastic parents, and I can't wait to watch their little one grow!
To all the moms and moms-to-be out there, I hope your day is as beautiful as you are. Happy Mother's Day!
